"There's nothing like a trail of blood to find your way back home." --Nikki Sixx
Almost finished with Blade of the Immortal: On the Perfection of Anatomy. Buy it here: I need to take some time and do some more book reviews. Posted to Craigslist again. We need students. The gentlemen who observed class Tuesday seemed like a great guy but I was a bit bummed out when I asked him, "Will we see you next Tuesday?" And his response was, "I'll try." I'm looking for people who will dedicate themselves the way I have. The martial arts in a lonely journey but I never thought it would be this lonely of a path. Dedication is a trait severely lacking in today's world. In light of the fact that I balance four children and a wife, fifty hours on average of work, side jobs, my writing, and my martial arts amongst other things I have no sympathy for lack of dedication. Yoda said it best, "There is no try. Do or do not." Also posted to see if I can locate some more mats. Right now I have none of my own and we only have a couple at the school. Look them up on Amazon, the prices are outrageous. -posted by Nobius 9:39 AM # Comments (2) Monday, September 24, 2007The Young and the Restless/SaveUs.222
"The landscape of his poetry was still desert." --Salmon Rushdie
Oh yea, Y2J is returning to RAW, doesn't take Sherlock Homes to figure out what the SaveUs.222 video alludes too. As I'm loosely putting together the notes for the comic I want to do. I can't help but remember the soap opera The Young and the Restless. Because of the shift I was on, I once never missed an episode for three years straight. During that run, Victor had a heart attack and Jack could of saved him but left him lying on the floor. A tribute to that idea will make it's way into my new story. Here's a book I'm reading: Had a new student observe Aikido/Martial Arts practice tonight. Found him through Cragslist and I really hope he joins us. Class was great, I warmed everybody up with some basic Karate exercises and the Michael taught the self defense techniques. Posted a ton of items to the Calliope Nerve store today. And that's when I noticed, a lot of books don't have the ISBN number printed in them. Interesting. Must be foreign editions. -posted by Nobius 11:18 PM # Comments (2) Saturday, September 22, 2007Three Sheets
You know there's not been a real wrestling diva since Kimberly Page left the business. She must have a good webmaster too, nice site.
Was that a sonic screwdriver I saw Captain Jack using on last week's Torchwood? The book I'm reading is Hellblazer: Rare Cuts pictured here--> William Gibson, who everyone knows coined the term cyberspace, once said even he never foresaw the popularity of the cell phone. But don't ask me where I read that. More of the useless trivia stored in my head as I prepare to try to get a slot on Jeopardy. All hail Alex Trebek! These are the types of profound thoughts I have when I'm three sheets to the wind. God bless the Budweiser. -posted by Nobius 3:20 PM # Comments (1) Friday, September 21, 2007Scam
Interesting email I got via Craigslist, as I post my martial arts services there. Funny thing is I have never posted costs on Craig's list. Another scam I'm sure.
I have seen your schedule prices of the lesson and However, if you don't use Craigslist, I have been doing some business off it recently and would recommend it. -posted by Nobius 11:36 PM # Comments (0) Thursday, September 20, 2007Life Is Beautiful
"Will you swear on your life that no one will cry at my funeral?" --Sixx AM
The new single from Nikki Sixx's Heroin Diaries sound track Life Is Beautiful matches my mood perfectly. Sometimes I'm not so nice. Now to go take some f*cking meds. Then kick a puppy. Or something worse. -posted by Nobius 11:28 AM # Comments (4) God apparantley responds to Lawsuit

Anxiously awaiting the premiere of The Umbrella Academy miniseries. The Free Comic Day Preview was outstanding and I had no idea the book was written by the front man of My Chemical Romance. I never really paid attention to the band until I ran into the tune Teenagers which has a real Misfits tinge to it. Check the video out and then check out this online Umbrella Academy story. Here's more info on the debut issue of Apocalypse Suite. If I had the time and money, I'd love to start a nonprofit that organizes boycotts of companies that farm out their customer service to foreign Non-English speaking/low wage nations. My experiences with all of them have been terrible (as I'm sure the rest of America's). Here's the list of companies I am currently boycotting: AT&T, Dell, Dish Network, JUNO/United Online, and Household Bank. And for those of you that know my real last name, just try and get a foreigner to be able to pronounce it much less type it into a computer. The new greatest invention of mankind is the self check out aisle at the grocery. Is this the end of the cashier? I doubt it, but is the end of me having to sit in line waiting while I wait for some slow, snot nose, punk kid, reject who can't count change without a computer nor crack a smile nor say, "thank you." And if I hadn't mentioned it before though I'm not reading the series (due to budget restraints I'll have to wait for the trades), the Doktor Sleepless WIKI is up. Here's an excerpt about it from the Avatar Press newsletter: "...the DS wiki is almost completely operated by its community of fans, with pictures, time lines, discussions, and related links supplied by people like yourself. Warren also stores a mass of back matter related to the print comic here for fans to contemplate over, as well as hidden information and secret web pages! Come and support one of the finest new series and its web correlative, and see what all the hype is about." -posted by Nobius 9:27 AM # Comments (0) Another Internet Mix Tape

Dark Horse has the coolest logo ever.
Casanova #8 asks all the important questions. What hides inside of Dokkktor Klockhammer’s horror hospital? How much time passes on page eleven? Are all future babes as hot as that? And when is Casanova Quinn? In case you missed the first seven issues of the greatest comic since Morrison's Doom Patrol, here's your chance to redeem yourself. Pay penance and buy the trade: After watching last weeks debut of Torchwood on BBC America last week I started making notes for my next comic. More on that soon, let's just say, if you like The Filth, Doctor Who, and Doom Patrol this thing will be right up your alley. Expect it to be dark, sureal, weird, and full of adult sci-fi/fantasy much like my poetry. (BTW, am I the only idiot on planet Earth who didn't know Torchwood is an anagram of Doctor Who?) Check out the The Filth here: Another zine I want to write: Nobius's Most Metal Moments including Pro-Pain playing a request for me and drinking a beer with home town rocker Ripper Owens. Notice what Rick McCallum has to say about the new Star Wars live action television series and the future of cable television. Now, off to read comics and start choosing pieces for my first poetry collection One Nite Pig which I'm also looking for an artist for. Looks like I'm going to use Amazon's Book Surge to On-Demand publish it. And tomorrow, spending time with the kids is the only real thing on the agenda beside finding the Lego TARDIS I built for Jake. Kalisa is working nearly full time for her Mom now which is good for the kids, her, and me. And as for working, taking only Saturday off, and working OT again beginning Sunday. Night all. -posted by Nobius 11:58 PM # Comments (0) Light Insanity
"...Driving your friends crazy with your light insanity." --Guns N' Roses
All right, I'll try this again as my first attempt mysteriously vanished. GNR's music in their hey day was completely insane. Perfect metal romp to mosh to or f*ck by or get f*ucked up by. (Not that I've ever done any of those...) My Michelle, so evil, so cool, true dark music. I digress, I've said all this before. :) On the comics front, Y the Last Man #58 brings Yorick's journey almost to close. I'll miss old Yorick when his story ends with issue sixty. In a nutshell, this issue is... to rip off a preview I read of it on the 'net.... bring tissues. In this weeks pull box, I also enjoyed the debut issue of Suicide Squad: Raise the Flag (I'm a John Ostrander fan of the Squad and had his original run in the late eighties/early nineties). Another Ostrander title Star Wars Legacy #16 takes us to an unknown Obi-Wan Kenobi confrontation and a new Skywalker tempted by the dark side. Got some more zine ideas including one about my love of professional wrestling and my favorite stars of sports entertainment. And before you shake your head, not everything I write is dark. I mean what fun would that be. :) Doesn't everyone love to watch a chair shot to the head once in a while? Saturday, Septemeber 29th, it's off to see The Melvins again with my close friends Mark and Rachael. Last time, was pure musical ecstasy, and this time duel drummers will make for something new to see and hear. More poetry soon. I'm audi, overtime awaits. Peace. Love. Death metal. :) -posted by Nobius 8:08 AM # Comments (0) Thursday, September 13, 2007More Oil

...I just came back from spending six days with Ed [Brubaker] and his wife in Seattle, and I don’t know. Ed put it like this: someone said something like, "then at the end of Civil War, Captain America can go out and find America." And Ed’s response was, “Cap doesn’t need to find America, America needs to find Cap." Matt Fraction works hard for the genres.
