"He's been in in his own head too long. From up there in his brain, we all look a bit like ants." --Warren Ellis

"Constant dripping hollows out a stone." --Lucretius

Watch this:

Live cuts are the best.

Gave my first private martial arts lesson to a coworker and his girlfriend tonight (who also turned out to be a coworker.) Haven't done that in a long time.

Went very well, I taught technique based Tai Chi/Aikdio which is simply taking moves out of the Tai Chi katas and showing their practical applications.

They asked for another private class next week.

Nice, very nice.

And I have a few words to share:

Opium word
Smokes poetry.
White boy mud shovel
Buries unswallowed bone.
Fake feathered wings
(Beaten defenseless
baby seal)
Love blood?
Chicken Gabriel,
closest feeling to God,
the "slimest" of necks
Ever had.

Kill, kill, kill.
Do tell, who the pronouns
Belong too.

Mouthful of Tongues

"Comics will break your heart but T.V. will do it better." --Warren Ellis

"I know you're not feeling so good. Come over to my house. We'll share meds." --Hammy Happenstance

The title of this post has nothing to do with the actual post itself, but it sounds damn good.

Still another movie I can't figure out how I missed. Million Dollar Baby is a heartfelt story of the search and the discipline of finding meaning in our lives and then grabbing it! Well told, well acted, thoughtful, definitely a classic for our times.

Martial arts was great today, with Michael and I splitting the class into two groups since we had a full house including another potential new student. Amazing how getting the old chi flowing makes this old man feel like a kid again. I can feel my body become more relaxed and more flexible as I train.

Church was fun too and I was asked to give a short presentation in a couple of weeks which I will.

On the work front, I can't complain. Still feeling some anxiety about my new position but then again that is why they call it anxiety disorder. I do unfortunately have to change shifts again to 1100 - 1900 which I'm not real wild about but for now I'm happy to just plain have a job.

Will get the APA out by the end of the week (better late than never) and hope nobody sends me a letter bomb or anthrax for their next contribution. Or as Mr. Rogers always says, "Can you say over committed?"

I knew you could.

Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind

Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind.

How the hell did I never see it before?

The movie is almost too perfect. God bless TIVO.

Added the book to my wish list.

And the sequel is called Bad Grass.

Bad Grass... uh huh uh huh uh huh. :)

I'm a CIA agent too but don't tell. I wouldn't want to piss off that Steven Seagal dude.

The Other Shoe

"That is the moment that I became a super-villain." --Grant Morrison

Last week after the annual Friends of the Library business meeting, I got to meet cartoonist/author Tom Batiuk who gave a wonderful presentation about his comic strip collection Lisa's Story: The Other Shoe. He was even gracious enough to both sign my copy and draw a picture in it.

He kept talking about how his job involved sitting in an empty room hanging out with all of his imaginary friends. Now that's something I do to. I can't see how a writer couldn't.

More soon as I'm busy now but in the meanwhile here's a nice piece of inspiration I found as I still pursue my dream of selling, publishing, and creating books and media.

I'll make it happen.

Just watch me. :)

Three A Day

"Three workouts a day - year round." --Dan Gable

"'ve written many books... and they are good books, books with consciousness that teach people things about our ways. But it is time that you learned something new about your art. It's time you became a storyteller." --Lynn V. Andrews

It's what I'm reading:

Some nice sales advice, given from my manger in my new position at work:

* Identify and anticipate needs.
* Customers buy good feelings and solutions to problems.
* Most customer needs are emotional rather than logical.
* The more you know your customers, the better you become at anticipating their needs.
* Communicate regularly so that you are aware of problems or upcoming needs.

Green Apple presents brand new books that may have slipped under your radar. And some remainders, gotta love left overs.

This guy was too busy to go to school, he was working. Skipping college rules.

I'm thinking, all of my friends are books. But I regress, I've said that before. Personally, like the doctor said, I take three a day.

Chocolate Chick Cookie

"I absorbed a great deal of poetry in the scientific silence." --Alice W. Flaherty

"Quite against her will, she was cast in the sequel." --Matthew Sturges

Chocolate Chick Cookie

The first time stolen,
(Me in -falsetto-)
Guilty offspring

My autumn
Hand slapped.
Lying with shame

My head fell into
Angry Bosom.
Dead Season.

Hands solemn raised,
Uplift my prayer.
(God, You know You hear me.)
I simply run.

Days of
Beautiful war.
Love’s tinder box

We go at each other/
Knives and words.

I – edited for clarity-
Sense static.

Muse waves transmit,
Channel knobs tune—
-U- got the frequency!

Ms. shoe obsessed.
(Maybe I'm the one.)
Failed to notice.

Angel, you
Die with your wings!

But first,
Bake me cookies.
On my tombstone--
