"Nobius to Rabbit: Tell Alice, I'm coming down the hole." --Nobius Black
Yes, my blog and one of my magazines is Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass themed but with the exception of the first Matrix movie, I'm not much of a fan of Neo and the gang. Is this the future of reading? Read the article, and then check out the product here: An interesting debate. One, I think I'll discuss further in my next issue of White Rabbit. (My Mom sent over the Newsweek that has the full story.) In my opinion, print media will never disappear. But how we read and intake our information will continue to evolve at a mind blowing pace. More and more wired isn't fad, it's norm. Eventually, entire libraries will be embedded in microchips smaller than a hair follicle. My church has a large oriental (mostly Mandarin speaking Chinese) base. I love spending time with them and learning about their culture, etc. Though I can do without some of the food. :) On Sunday, we had a wonderful lunch after church. After eating, I began washing all the dishes. It's the least I could do, since the kids and I didn't even know there would be a lunch. I didn't notice at first but several of the ladies were pointing at me, smiling, and whispering. Then Chen, who was drying the dishes for me said, "We have never seen American brother wash dishes before. We love it!" :) Thanks Chen, for boosting my ego. You made my week. Isn't it wonderful, how such simple things can make a person so happy? And really, that's what life is all about. Can't wait to read the book I just bought Philip K. Dick's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? -posted by Nobius 9:58 AM #

Why didn't you tell me your church has hot Asian women? I'm willing to add whatever your brand of xtianity to my religious lineup (Satanistic Voodou Japanese cannibalistic psychopath) if it means I can score a bunny. "
"
And let us know how the novel compares to Blade Runner.
Hmm... I never mentioned the women before. Yes, if you love Asian women, you'd be in "heaven." "
"
Yea, it will be interesting to see how the book and movie compare, I'll let you know.
The book and the movie are two separate things...I think the book is better but since there's about a dozen versions of Blade Runner, it's hard to say which is better. I do like the one ending where he finds out he's a robot... "

Reading printed material is ubiquitous, and since there's so much of it still around it'll be a long time until we move to purely digital forms of reading. Until a computer is like a 99ยข notepad, very few people will be using just them to read. The Kindle's overpriced and DRM ridden anyway...
Interesting point of view James. The Kindle does have some interesting features but there's no way in hell I'd pay $9.99 for an e-book. However, the ability it has to build communities around a book, or newspaper, etc is very neat. I don't think the Kindle is the I-Pod of Reading yet but will be interesting to see where it goes. "
