Monday, September 12, 2005How And Why We Work
"F is for fighting, R is for red,
Ancestors' blood in battles they've shed. E, we elect them, E, we eject them, In the land of the free and the home of the brave. D, for your dying, O, your overture, M is for money and you know what that cures. This spells out freedom, it means nothing to me, As long as there's a P.M.R.C." --Megadeth Still taking time off from blogging and zine writing. My stack of unread material is finally becoming manageable again. I'm currently reading a book written for Canadian National Railroad employees about their company and purpose by the corporation's president. It's called How and Why We Work: Building a Precision Railroad. Though all things capitalist have to be taken with a heavy influx of salt, it's a good solid book about the motivation and fundamentals of good rail road operations. The company I work for is adopting a very similar model right down to my current job. Check out this excellent story from 365 Tomorrows: The Nine Billion Names of God by Kathy Kachelries. It's amazing how something so small can be so powerful. Such is the ability of well written words. Before you carry on with yourselves, tell me, what are you reading? Or maybe even, tell me about your life. -posted by Nobius 7:43 AM #

For Whom The Bell Tolls - Hemingway You're reading about the CNR. That's cool. I remember the trains in Saint John when I was a kid. Andrew

Andrew, the CNR I believe is Canada's largest rail, we use it with Roadway/Reimer and it has a lot of track here in the states. Let me know if the Hemingway book is any good I've always been curious. James, Let me know if Radio Free Albumeth is any good. As you know I've read Aikido and the Dynamic Sphere plenty of times, I hope you enjoy it. Let me know how you enjoy taking Aikido.

If Hemingway has your seal, then certainly I must check it out. BTW, Andrew have you ever read "On Writing" by Stephen King? -M |
